KELANA CONVOY TRIP - DAY 1

Sorry yer, dah dekat sebulan baru nak tulis nih. I might take a few days to finish the whole trip summary.

Bertolak dari Newcastle by coach the night before. Reached London at about 6 a.m. From Victoria coach station, naik tube (takut jugak time tuh, first time naik lepas July 7) pegi Marble Arch station. Penat gile angkat beg yang berat tuh naik tangga, and the very the lega bile sampai jek kat tangga atas skali, nampak la Malaysians ramai2. And that was the moment I met Suraya who then happened to be my tentmate and a good friend all along the journey.

Ramai jugak yang join. 2 coaches full. Ingatkan satu je. 100++ orang, and mostly Malaysians la. The only exception were the bus drivers, Bob and Richard (heh, can still recall their names) and anak ngan cucu Bob, Maxi and Chelsea. Ade nampak ramai jugak senior KMYS, tapi sorila, ramainye tak ingat name, cam muka jek. Tak baik sangat ngan senior dulu =P.

Bus bertolak pegi Dover then naik ferry pegi France, pastuh sambung terus gi Holland. Berenti kejap kat Belgium singgah kat choc factory. Banyak gile coklat...if only that was the last day of the trip and I still have some Euro money left, I would have spent all of them on chocs. Dark chocolate =)

On the way, I took 2 ibuprofen- this is where the story begins. Heh, asalnye, dah nak spare paracetamol but apparently mase gi netto, abes la plak paracetamol. Tinggal ibuprofen je. Jadi dengan selambe nye beli aje la. Pastuh kebetulan I needed it mase dalam bas, so makan la 2 biji. Alhamdulillah, berkesan. But I got this hypersensitivity problem. Didn't know I AM actually allergic to ibuprofen. So later on, I started to fel numb around my right cheeks. You know, the one you've got when u go to dentist and have an injection in ur gum. Sort like that. My face felt swollen. And shortly after that, I got this swelling on my right eye together with shortness of breath (thought asthma would feel worse than this though). It felt like my nose was blocked. But I just assumed it was my rhinitis or what u call resdung or whatsoever illness I have always had with my nasal sinuses. Unfortunately it wasn't. People started to notice that another eye was swelling too. Not eye really. I mean the part surrounding the eye (should I name it? It is somewhere in palpebral part of orbicularis oris) - heh, trust me, I just learned that name.

So anyway. People started to gather around me. And luckily there was this akak yang buat PhD in pharmacy, at least she was able to calm me down. God it was so horrible. I had to use so lot of extra energy to open my eyes. And reaching the camp site in the dark with my swollen face everywhere (and I put on Farah's sunglass to cover my eyes coz trust me, u don't even dare looking at it, it was so terrible) was not a nice thing at all. And putting up tents and seeing things in dark with sunglass on. Arrghh...itula nikmat mata yang tuhan kasi. Bukan je dapat melihat, but indeed we manage to see the world without even realise how much energy we actually need to open the eyes. Alhamdulillah.

So there I was sleeping in the tent with Suraya and Syanu (my tentmates) and kept waking up and reflected myself in the mirror with the help of some light from my mobile. But it did not get any better....

GOOD START SO FAR

Just want to share my excitement here.

I was so worried about getting a new partner for my patient study. I hope to get somebody that I can at least work with, of course. Somebody who knows me not being able to understand Geordie accent. Me needing much more time to speak out what is in my mind in English.

I love doing family study with my partner last year, Oniye. And she looks comfortable with me and my friends too. In fact she joined our study group last year. And it was so funny when I was asking a question in BM that day, and she answered my question, which happened to be a correct one. No shock please. Not that she answered my question in BM too. It was either yes or no answer. She got it right - which means she understood my question. Apart from most of the terms being in English, I am quite sure the rest was in Malay. I didn't realise I was asking in Malay at that particular time though, but right after she answered my Q, the others were laughing and said "That's a right answer!" And I was like, so if it's correct, why should they be laughing?? Didn't realise it until they mention it to me. Blurry me. Don't think Oniye did either.

And yesterday was the day. We were warned that this time we won't be able to choose our own partner. And we will definitely not get the same one we've got last year. And tick tock...tick tock... my GP tutor gave us numbers to randomly select our new partner. And I was so relieved and pleased and grateful to get no 3 and the other person who got the same number was Lara. Thank god I got her. I know I am so comfy being with her too. She is one of them that not only I can work with, but love and happy to work with. We talked about my problem the other day when our group were having a social dinner together before easter last year. No, this year, but last term. (I wasn't even here in March last year;)) Oh yeah, and she has her own car although I am not sure if we'll just be using public transport, but that doesn't matter. As long as I get somebody I am happy to do work with, I don't mind walking.

When I was about to tell her how pleased I am to get her, she told me she was pleased to get me first. Heh, how could it be the other way round. I SHOULD BE THE ONE WHO WILL NEED MUCH MORE OF HER HELP I SUPPOSE. She is so nice and I can't wait to get started with the patient study. Oh. And I hope the patient attached to me will be a generous and kind one too. And understanding. That is the most important thing.

And my new GP tutor was so nice too. If only I like MiC stuff so much, I would be looking forward to meeting her in seminars too. But the fact is, MiC is not in my interest at all. I prefer learning the complicated neurones thingy and hold half part of the brain in my hand and recognise which one is the sulci, and ventricles, and all those overlapping arteries rather than MiC stuff. Or PPD.

I know there was this big smile on my face. I can't help smiling until I had my iftar at the mosque yesterday. God had helped me. I am so grateful. Alhamdulillah. I did enjoy my 1st day of Ramadhan after all.

AHLAN WASAHLAN YA RAMADHAN

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.,

Alhamdulillah, dekat UK ni dah start puasa hari ni. Dah masuk bulan Ramadhan, again and it is my 2nd year fasting in the UK.

Just wanna wish all SELAMAT BERPUASA.

- Riwayat Ahmad, Bukhari, Abu Dawud & Tirmidzi

Dari Anas, Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda; "Bersahurlah. Sesungguhnya sahur itu berkat."
- Riwayat Al Bukhari & Muslim

Dari Abu Hurairah r.a. katanya, Nabi s.a.w. bersabda; "Apabila Ramadhan telah datang maka dibukakan pintu rahmat, dikunci Neraka Jahanam dan dibelenggu semua syaitan."
- Sahih Muslim

Dari Sahl b. Saad, Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda; "Orang yang segera berbuka puasanya sentiasa dalam kebaikan."
- Riwayat Bukhari & Muslim

Nabi s.a.w. bersabda maksudnya; "Makan sahur itu berkat, kerana itu jangan kamu tinggalkan walau seteguk air kerana Allah merahmati orang-orang yang sahur dan malaikat mendoakan orang yang sahur."
- Riwayat Ahmad

SELAMAT MENYAMBUT RAMADHAN DAN SELAMAT BERPUASA
